Festive Greetings to you and family on the occasion of Vijaya Dasami! This happy Festival coming on a Somvaar, prompted me to restart my earlier 'Somvaar Sandesh', after rather a long break. First some musings on the significance of this Festival.
The two faces of the Coin of Divinity are: Purusha and Prakriti. In scientific terminology: Potential and Kinetic Energies. Purusha and Prakriti are inseparable. Existence and Appearance. This aspect is symbolized in the Artha-Naareeswara Form in mythological lore. There are festivals that highlight the Purusha (Siva) Tattva. This festival focusses on the Prakriti (Sakti) Tattva. The Divya Sakti is three-pronged in this creation. 1. Material prosperity aspect. 2. Knowledge and Wisdom aspect, and 3. Energy aspect. Mythologically named Lakshmi, Saraswati and Paarvati or Durga. Not that there are three independent Goddesses, but are the three forms of that Divya Sakti, the manifesting aspect of the Paramaatma, the Supreme Being.
Musing on Durga Maata (Mother Deity) brings to my mind the prime basic emotion of a mother. An emotion for which a mother prominently stands out in this creation.Mother's love is spontaneous. Purest form of love. It is unconditional and selfless, expecting no reward or returns. The greatest characteristic of her love is, whatever her offspring be, whether highly talented and accomplished, or mediocre, or even retarded, her love makes no distinction. Whether with robust health, or handicapped or afflicted, it makes no difference. Even if the entire world were to loathe any of her offspring, the mother would hold even such an one to her bosom. Love involves coolness and forbearance. Love has its associate emotions of forgiveness and compassion. Love is the universal solvent into which all emotions dissolve. May the Divine Mother, of whom all beings are Her offspring, shower Her love and grace, and bestow well-being and prosperity, peace and happiness on all!
Now a poem of mine entitled:
TRANSCENDENTAL LOVE
Love is an all-pervading fragrance of Divinity
Emanating from the lotus-seat of one's heart.
Let thy love embrace the entire universe itself as it were,
The animate and inanimate, the flora and the fauna,
The micro- and the macro- everything conceivable.
Let thy love be as deep and vast as the ocean.
Waves and ripples there could be, waves of misunderstanding
And ripples of misapprehension, leading to impulsiveness and anger.
Realize that these are mere momentary and transitory upsurges.
Be not obsessed with them. Let thy thoughts and focus be
Not on the waves and ripples, but on the eternal Ocean itself!
Seek peace and solace in it, and strive and persevere to realize
The unbounded universal Love Divine.
